Jubilee Retreat Weekend

Spiritual Energizing and Skill-Sharing through Improvisational Arts

Playing with movement and contact is part of the Jubilee Retreat weekend!

Explore spiritual enrichment, community renewal and peacemaking action through new forms of interactive drama, movement and other creative arts. Activities include:

  • personal and group devotional time
  • playing with basic movement exercises
  • learning liberating theater games
  • telling stories and reflecting them with improvisational drama
  • re-experiencing other familiar art forms as community invigoration
  • sharing meals and a supportive fellowship
Led by:  The Jubilee Troupe - Chris Fitz, Christina Cruz, Holly White and Tabea Steinbeisser - with Arlene Kiely, Gloria Newton, Paul Grout, Barb Sayler, Chris Fitze and YOU!

Concurrent workshops will be an opportunity to explore other art forms on Saturday afternoon:

  • Fun with Group Improv and Games - Chris Fitze. Have fun and learn some games to build groups through risk-taking improvisational theater. Chris Fitze is a professional theater technician and improv troupe member from Portland, ME.
  • Scratching Out the New Paradigm - Paul Grout. What does art have to do with waking up in our numbed culture? Explore this waking up on paper. What does it look like so far? Paul Grout is an artist, former pastor at the Genesis Church of the Brethren and co-founder of A Place Apart in Putney, VT.
  • Spirit of Song - Barb Sayler. Through melody and rhythm, we can pray and create simultaneously. Using a repeated phrase or mantra, we will play with musical prayer and opening ourselves to the Spirit's flow. We will take time to explore this kind of creating, with and without words, alone and together, expressing our inner thoughts and prayers. Barb Sayler is a singer and co-director of On Earth Peace, New Windsor, MD.
Organized by:  the Jubilee Troupe, an independent project sponsored by On Earth Peace.
